Every night, an envelope of torn photographs arrives at a small photo-repair shop. Piece them together, and a grandmother's life comes back.

Seventeen-year-old Mira Hollis has taken over her grandmother's photo-repair shop on Lantern Street. Ada, once a travelling photographer, now lives in a care home and remembers less each week. Then the envelopes start arriving: no sender, postmarks from Kyoto, Paris and Lisbon, and inside, Ada's own photographs, torn to pieces. In almost every one, a man in a grey coat stands at the edge of the frame.
