Looking down a Kyoto canal toward the hills, a five-storey pagoda rises above the tiled rooftops of the old town. In front of it, an arched wooden bridge lit by lanterns crosses the water, wooden townhouses line both banks, and cherry blossoms frame the top of the view.
The story so far
This photo is part of The Mender of Lantern Street, a story told one torn photograph at a time. Every night, an envelope of torn photographs arrives at a small photo-repair shop. Piece them together, and a grandmother's life comes back.
