About this picture
A small arched stone bridge crosses a narrow Kyoto canal at midnight in spring. A single red paper lantern lights the bank, cherry petals float on the dark water, and wooden townhouses line the far side under a thin crescent moon. On top of the bridge, a vintage camera stands on a wooden tripod, pointed at the water, with nobody beside it.
The story so far
This photo is part of The Mender of Lantern Street, a story told one torn photograph at a time. Every night, an envelope of torn photographs arrives at a small photo-repair shop. Piece them together, and a grandmother's life comes back.
How to play
Drag a piece onto another square to swap them, or tap a piece and then tap where it should go. Hold Preview to see the finished photo. Pieces that belong together join up and move as one, and turn green once they are in the right place. You have 10:00 for these 49 pieces, and the clock keeps running if you leave the page. Each episode starts with 2 hints and earns more along the way; unused hints carry over to later photos. Once the photo is restored, turn it over and look for the clue hidden in it. Today’s photos unlock one after another; earlier episodes are open to everyone.
