About this picture
Looking up from a Kyoto canal at night: a thin crescent moon sits in an indigo sky scattered with faint stars, framed by branches heavy with pale pink cherry blossoms. In the lower right corner, the tiled eaves of a wooden townhouse catch the light from its upper windows.
The story so far
This photo is part of The Mender of Lantern Street, a story told one torn photograph at a time. Every night, an envelope of torn photographs arrives at a small photo-repair shop. Piece them together, and a grandmother's life comes back.
How to play
Drag a piece onto another square to swap them, or tap a piece and then tap where it should go. Hold Preview to see the finished photo. Pieces that belong together join up and move as one, and turn green once they are in the right place. You have 5:00 for these 25 pieces, and the clock keeps running if you leave the page. Each episode starts with 2 hints and earns more along the way; unused hints carry over to later photos. Once the photo is restored, turn it over and look for the clue hidden in it. Today’s photos unlock one after another; earlier episodes are open to everyone.
